I am excited to announce the launch of the Bread With Circus Radio Show. I have begun producing a radio program that can be heard in Whitehorse on CJUC 92.5 FM, as well as on other community radio stations around the Yukon Territory. I will make the shows available for podcast in OGG format here on the site. The program runs one hour in total, 12 minutes per segment.

I read a news story this morning entitled...
To this I have only one response...
Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, a position comparable to Prime Minister in other countries. She is the leader of the Democratic Party's majority of seats in the US Congress, a majority which could, if it wished to, end the Iraq war, impeach the criminals in the White House and perhaps conduct a real, non-whitewash investigation into 9-11. She could stop the Bush agenda, if only she dared to. Instead of doing her job and standing up for the American people who gave her the power she holds, (but never uses) Nancy Pelosi is going to grandstand and go after China, underwriter of the massive debt that has kept the US economy (barely) alive since Bush decided that every billionaire needs a tax cut. The Tibetans are an inherently likable people who have been oppressed for half a century. I have nothing but respect for the Dalai Lama. However, Madame Speaker, it is not your place to go after Chinese thugs (biting the hand that feeds) while ignoring the criminals across the aisle from you, the ones that you actually do have the power to stop. Really? It's your karma to oppose the Chinese government on
their internal affairs? Do I need to remind Nancy that she
controls the congressional majority and, fillibusters aside, she
can just pull the funding on the Bush agenda anytime
she decides? She won't do that though. She'd rather grandstand for
a cause celebre.
Nancy wants to talk about karma? Well, how about the karma of allowing the Iraq meat grinder to continue? How about the karma of letting the giant banks foreclose on countless low-income people? How about the karma of allowing the bill of rights to be scrapped, or permitting the torture of innocent people? How about the karma of being the biggest political coward (with the possible exception of Harry Reid) since Neville Chamberlain? How about that karma Nancy? If this is your karma then I really wouldn't want to be you, because you've got some serious @#$! coming your way.
This has been around for a while I think, so maybe you've seen it before, maybe not. Ronald McHummer exists primarily to protest McDonald's giveaway of toy hummers in children's meals. The US Dollar Index is a measurement of the value of the US Dollar against a basket of foreign currencies. It is a good way to measure the relative value of the US Dollar, as it eliminates the comparison against only the Euro, or the Yen, allowing more of a big picture understanding of what the dollar is really worth. The military-industrial-neocon complex, as it were, has been working overtime to get him out of the way of their war plans, and this week they finally succeeded. Not that Fallon is all that surprised, I'll bet.
I've done a little digging around, finding out how to collect good internet videos and figuring out ways to show them to friends who don't or can't spend so much time online. I've found a couple of free tools that help to make some of the quality videos posted to sites like youtube and google video far more accessible. My problem with youtube, google video, and the like, has been that in order to view the videos on these sites, you have to be online, loading the page, and hoping that the video you want to see hasn't been taken down. It is inefficient to have to reload the page if you want to watch the video again later, and it can really cost you in time and bandwidth. Here is a way that you can download these videos to your own computer, and even burn them to disk. First, get the Firefox browser. The Firefox browser is available online, for free here. Firefox works just like Internet Explorer, though I have found it to be more user friendly, and less vulnerable to spyware and viruses. After you have downloaded Firefox, open it up and look under "Tools." Choose "AddOns." A window will pop up, at the bottom of which is a link that says "Get Extensions." Click that and a web page listing available extensions will open. There is a search bar at the top of the page. Type "Video Download Helper" into the search bar. The first result should be the "Video Download Helper" program. Click the link and install it. You will be prompted to restart the browser. Do so and go to your favourite online video site and start playing a video. You'll notice a new button on the toolbar that lights up when a video is available for download. There is a little arrow on the right side of this button. If you click it, a menu listing the files available for download will open. If you choose one of these files, you can download it to your computer and save it on your hard-drive. It will save as an "FLV" file. Note that you have to start playing the video that you want to download in order to activate the Download Helper Program. Now you'll need a player to watch the FLV file, or a converter to change the FLV file into something else. Click Here to get to a page where you can download the FLV player. Once you have installed this file, you can watch the videos that you have downloaded. If you want something more useful than an FLV file, you can get a program that will convert the FLV files to AVI or MPEG files. These formats are much more useful than the FLV's, especially if you want to burn the videos to disk. Click Here to get to a page where you can download a program that will convert the FLV files. Once you have converted them to MPEG or AVI format, you can burn them to disk, make dvd's and distribute the videos yourself. I have passed lots of good documentaries on to people who might never have seen them otherwise. The less internet-savvy among us might never see an online streaming video, but would happily watch a dvd. This is a good time to start archiving important material. Watch the video below to see why.

The Internet is at risk of being taken over by giant media corporations. The six big media companies are working to seize control of the internet. They want to control content, just as they've done with tv radio, and newspapers.
On the one hand, it was nice to see Prince Harry in a British army uniform...The sheer number of man-hours and money lavished on allowing one young man to experience job satisfaction is mind-boggling. ...Can we please just get back to shooting anyone who gets near the oil pipeline?
