Medvedev's choice of China as the main destination of his first foreign trip reflected the two nations'
increasing closeness in recent years as part of their efforts to counterbalance what they have called
Washington's global dominance.
Hezbollah is NOT in it just for the money. They actually believe the stuff they say, and they prove it
by getting their hands dirty rebuilding blasted slum neighborhoods, handing out food to the hungry, and trying
to bring water and electricity to Shia dumps that never had them before. That kind of actual concern for the
poor is just about unheard-of in these places, and it inspires fanatical loyalty when people see it happening
for the first time in their lives. Sadr's people are the only ones who manage to get food, water and electricity
to the huge stinking Shia slums in Iraq, and Hezbollah has an even longer record of putting in the money and time,
like Mao said a guerrilla army should, on civilian projects.
McCain rejected the endorsement of Texas preacher John Hagee after an audio recording surfaced in which
the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler...He later repudiated the support of Rod Parsley, an Ohio preacher
who has sharply criticized Islam and called the religion inherently violent.
Eleven elderly people accused of being witches have been burned to death by a mob in the west of Kenya...
Villagers told reporters that they had evidence that the victims were witches. They say they found an
exercise book at a local primary school that contained the minutes of a "witches' meeting" which detailed
who was going to be bewitched next.

...in a co-ordinated move, ECB and Fed officials are now talking the currency up, whispering
to journalists and the markets that if the dollar doesn't strengthen there'll be "intervention" -
which, for now at least, bolsters the greenback.
When Hamas became part of the Palestinian government, the West rejected it. So Hamas took over Gaza.
When the Hizbollah became part of the Lebanese government, the Americans rejected it.
Now Hizbollah has taken over west Beirut.
Mr Bolton, an influential former member of President George W Bush?s inner circle, dismissed as
?dead wrong? reported British intelligence conclusions that the US military had overstated the support
that Iran was providing to Iraqi fighters.
...Tbilisi was implementing a plan approved by foreign "sponsors" designed at pinning the blame
for the current tensions in Georgia's breakaway republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia on Russia.

Robert Newman's History of Oil
This is a performance given by British comedian Robert Newman. It is one of the most brilliant
pieces of standup comedy/performance art that I've seen in a long time. I've never before seen someone
do such a great job of explaining geo-politics. Best of all Newman manages to do so in a humourous way.
I highly recommend that you watch this video, its only 45 minutes long, it will make you laugh and
you'll probably come out of it with a better understanding of the way the world works.

Oil Swell Won't End Well

"The dollar has completely been removed from our oil trade....Crude oil customers have agreed
with us to use other currencies (in the trade)," said Oil Ministry official Hojjatollah Ghanimifard
"We make our transactions with euros in Europe, but yen in Asia," he added.
The truth doesn't matter. The horrifying, murderous consequences don't matter.
What matters is the militarist, elitist agenda of global domination -- in a word, empire --
that has driven America's "bipartisan foreign policy establishment" for decades. Iraq was
not an aberration; it was an embodiment of this agenda. And the attack on Iran will be the same.
Industrial agriculture has brought us mad-cow disease, soil erosion, pollution by toxic chemicals,
depletion of aquifers, animal abuse, and long-distance transportation of food stuffs. This model must be
transformed into sustainable agriculture.
