Two Weeks To Go
Just a fortnight left until what is perhaps the most important election in American history. The stakes are high;
this may in fact be the last chance for American democracy. The last rubber-stamp congress gave Emperor George
the power to imprison and torture anyone anywhere without a trial. We may be one rubber-stamp congress
away from seeing him declared him President for Life. 

Not being an American, I don't get a say in the outcome of the November 7th election. I can, however, use this
page to help rally my American readers. If you are an American reading this page, its a safe bet that you are 
well informed and politically aware. Telling you about the importance of this election is just preaching to the choir. 
However, it is also a safe bet that you have friends, relatives, co-workers, classmates and neighbours who are clueless
about politics. Lots of people don't understand the issues at all. Lots of people are so disinterested or turned off
by politics that they have tuned-out completely and don't plan to vote. Some people won't even know that there
is an election taking place at all. These are the likely non-voters, some of whom YOU can mobilize. These people
can, with a little push, can be motivated to vote. Here are some things you can do to get the vote out.

Call up old friends and relatives. Talk to your classmates or your co-workers. Talk to your neighbours.
Send emails and instant messages. Let the people in your life know how concerned you are about the future
of your country. Do this now! Give people time to think about what's going on. Ask people if they were 
planning to vote. If they're not, try to convince them to do so. Tell them that you don't care who they
vote for, as long as they get out and vote. (If opinion polls are to be believed, it is likely they won't
be voting Republican) If you can afford it, take the day off work. Buy cups of coffee and donuts. Spend 
election day as a chauffeur, bringing people to the polls. Its a great opportunity to catch up with people
you haven't talked to for a while. Its a great way to get the vote out.

The hardest thing about election day is actually getting people to the polling station. If you can spare
a days wages and a tank of gas, you can really make a difference. The higher the turnout, the more likely
it is that your government will improve. The rest of the world is counting on you. Do what you can. 
Regardless of the outcome, at the end of the day, make sure that you can say that you did something.

I am sorry to tell you that the republic is in peril. America the Good, the great nation that once
inspired the people of the world to demand democracy and freedom, is on its deathbed. You've almost blown it. 
In six short years, your once admired country has become hated by a majority of humanity. I know that this 
is not all your fault, but you are not blameless. Your record speaks for itself. 

You let George Bush seize power. 

You let him start a needless war of aggression.

You let the US Congress become his rubber stamp.

You didn't challenge the "Axis of Evil" nonsense. This encouraged nuclear proliferation. Now North Korea 
has the bomb, ostensibly as a deterrent to a US invasion. Iran is doing everything it can to build one too.

You let a President become an Emperor. The freedoms your country has long stood for are all but gone. 
Habeas Corpus, the most basic of legal rights, has been repealed as have the Geneva Conventions.
George the Emperor can now declare anyone anywhere an enemy combatant and have them imprisoned and 
tortured for an indefinite period of time, all without a trial. He could even do it to you.

Despite all of that, there is good news. You have a chance, perhaps the last chance to save your country. 
Be encouraged. A majority of Americans will stand with you if you will only stand up and fight. Tens of 
millions of Americans detest the Bush Administration. They are disgusted with what their country has become.
America is now a rogue nation ruled by a military dictator. You must do something to change that. 

As you know, congressional elections will take place on November 7th. Your party is likely to make some
gains. Here is a three step plan to restore your honour around the world. It is a plan that will win back
billions of people you have lost during this dark period of American history. Here it is.

A) Win Congress by standing up to the Bush Administration.

B) Start hearings to Impeach George W Bush and the rest of his neo-con gang.

C) Put them all on trial for crimes against humanity. They are guilty of many.

Pretty simple eh? Come on friends, you can do it. Have courage. If you enact this plan, it will show the
world that America holds itself accountable for all the damage that it has done. This is the only way 
to win back the respect, the hearts and minds of people all across the world. Holding the Bush Administration
accountable is the only good option that you have. You will otherwise find yourself lamenting the loss of 
what was once a great and free nation. You are all too close to losing all of your friends. Stand up Democrats. 
Save your once great nation before it is too late.
