Can't They Find a Better Spokesman?

I watched Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's speech at Columbia University yesterday and I was less than impressed.
With the whole world watching, Ahmadinejad had an opportunity to undo the media's de-humanization of himself
and his people. He could have made a convincing case for peace and understanding. Instead, Ahmadinejad
evaded questions and engaged in ridiculous rhetoric that only further undermined his credibility.
("Iran does not have homosexuals") That said, just because he is an idiot doesn't mean that he deserves
to have his country bombed. His denial of the holocaust was particularly disturbing, however, that does not
mean that Iranian civilians deserve to be murdered by the US Air Force. Despite the rhetoric, Iran is no threat
to Israel. We must remember that Israel is armed with hundreds of nuclear warheads: many of them are pointed
squarely at Tehran. Those who want war with Iran are bloodthirsty savages. It doesn't matter what they say
to package or justify their position, Pro-war means pro-murder, pro-dead children. May all those who argue
for war take up arms and do the butchering themselves.

Misplaced Outrage

Those who are upset about the Iranian President's visit must either be ignorant of what Iran is, or
unwilling to look in the mirror. I do not defend the regime in Tehran. The Iranian government is guilty of
reprehensible human rights abuses. However, those who were outraged that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wished
to visit the site of World Trade Centre should be reminded of the following.

Iran did not participate in the September 11th attack, officially, the attacks have been blamed on a
gang of Saudis called Al Qaeda. Iranians are leftist Shia Muslims. Al Qaeda are right-wing Sunnis.
Al Qaeda hates Iran, they are mortal enemies.

Also, those who say that the President's visit is unacceptable because Iran sponsors terrorism are guilty
of gross hypocrisy. Again, I do not defend the Iranian regime. I ask why...?

When Hezbollah launched rocket attacks on Israel last year it was called terrorism.
When the US bombed Iraqi civilians during the "Shock and Awe" campaign it was called progress.

When Iran passes weapons to Iraqi Shia militias it is called terrorism.
When the US passes weapons to former Saddam henchmen in Anbar province
(or a private militia of mercenaries called Blackwater) it is called progress.

They are guilty of doing what we have done. We have backed them into a corner, and of course,
they feel threatened. Ahmadinejad is an idiot, but so is Bush. Neither deserve to have their people bombed.
Shame on all who want war.

Air Force Investigates Mistaken Transport of Nuclear Warheads

Six nuclear warheads on cruise missiles were mistakenly carried on a flight from North Dakota to Louisiana

What do they do at that Air Force Base anyway? Why was this story leaked to the press? Is somebody high-up within the Air Force trying to warn us about something?

9-11, Six Years Later

Who are the beneficiaries of 9-11? The answer is: the military-security complex, which has accumulated
tens of billions of dollars in profits...Architects, engineers and physicists know that powerfully
constructed steel buildings do not suddenly collapse at free-fall or near-free-fall speed simply because
they were impacted by airliners and experienced short-lived, low intensity and limited fires.

Osama Bin Laden to USA - "Boo!"

Its breaking news all over, Goldstein is back, and apparently, he has put some black dye in

Ron Paul Slaps Fox "News"

Ron Paul on Foxnews - youtube video

It's hard to believe I'm saying this, but I've actually found a Republican that I like. Texas Congressman Ron Paul is the only non-fascist candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination. I don't know anything about Paul's domestic policies, but his ideas about foreign policy make a lot of sense. Isn't it weird to see a Republican telling the truth? It looks as if the neo-conservative media hacks are working to attack and discredit the Congressman, which can only mean that he is a threat to them. He reminds me of a Republican version of Dennis Kucinich, except for the fact that by being so different from all the others he's running against, he may have actually have a chance of winning. (If they don't kill him first) In the clip above, Paul tears apart the lies of Sean Hannity. If only John Kerry had that ability three years ago...

Back To the Blog

My extraordinarily busy summer has come to an end, and I'm ready to resume my normal life.
I once again have the time and energy to put into breadwithcircus.com Thanks to the long-time
readers of the page for sticking with me, welcome to those of you who are new to the site.

Let's All Hate Iran

Bush Meets with Conservative Radio Hosts

While most of us were enjoying the beautiful weather of early August, George Bush was hard at work rounding
up a posse. The group gathered was sympathetic to the floundering president; they were eleven right-wing radio
hosts who (against all evidence to the contrary) continued to support Bush's neo-conservative agenda. Those called
to meet with Emperor George included Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Hugh Hewitt, and eight other famous prostitutes.
What did this collection of high-profile warmongers talk about? Participants said that the meeting was "off the record."
None of those who attended were free to report what was discussed, not that they'd be in any hurry to do so
anyway. We must remember that Bush is a good friend of the men who sign the talker's cheques.

Why did Bush meet with these radio hosts? Perhaps he was giving them orders. There has already been one
documented case of paid collusion between the media and the Administration. Do you remember
Armstrong Williams? Williams is the infamous "pundit for sale," a radio host paid by the Bush Administration
to promote their poorly conceived education policy. (The one where kids get left behind) I think that the technical
term for Williams is "propagandist." Though Williams is the only one to have been caught, it would be naive
to think that he is the only one on the payroll.

The talk-show hosts that Bush met with dominate the AM radio dial. The average US worker spends

about 45 minutes a day driving to work and back. Trapped in their cars, millions of Americans will tune in
to these pro-fascist programs, leaving themselves open to whatever ideas, (no matter how insane) may be presented.
When the Administration wants a particular message to get out, it has a willing partner. The hosts can help policies
in gaining mass appeal even if most of the listeners disagree with them. In fact, the hosts have done their jobs
well if they can manage to convince slightly more than a third of their audience that a given policy is right.
Slightly more than a third, after all, is "plenty".

Cheney Instructs Media to Demonize Iran

The order to build support for an attack on Iran has been issued. The article highlighted mentions the following.
They have instructions to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day...
heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from
which a war can be maintained...they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is "plenty."

We can now expect all those present at Bush's summer meeting to begin foaming at the mouth, warning us
about how Iran is about to kill or convert you and everyone you love. They will present us with a suicidal solution
to a non-existent problem. Never mind that Tehran would be vapourized if it ever launched an attack on anyone,
they'll say that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (Iran's President has no authority over Iran's military) is crazy and ready
to use Iran's secret (non-existent) nukes against Israel. They will tell you that Iran (Shia) is about to use Al Qaeda
(mortal enemy of all Shia) to detonate a WMD in your hometown with the sole intention of killing you and your family.
Prepare to be told the ridiculous and the implausible. They want their war.
